Editorial Illustration

I am schooled in how to discern the heart of a story and develop full-page and spot illustrations to support the text.

The first illustration and spread are for an article that appeared in Wired Magazine. The article discusses the rapid advancement of processing speeds and the theoretical point of singularity where artificial intelligence becomes an actuality. I also designed the layout on this spread.

The second spread features an illustration I did for Salt Lake Magazine for an op ed peice about high gasoline prices. An avid lover of art history, I used the opportunity to pay tribute to Ed Ruscha. I am only responsible for the illustration on this peice.

The third spread is for an older article that appeared in Hyperactive Magazine. The article discusses the live performances of the Flaming Lips, a band given to theatrics like throwing fake blood and confetti in to the audience, dressing up in animal mascot costumes, and synchronized video backgrounds. The title font was designed by a member of the band.
